Nocturnal enuresis, commonly known as bed wetting is a disorder in which children passes urine involuntarily during sleep. Especially found in children ≥ 5 years of age. Mostly children achieve bladder control by the age of 3 years. According to the data there are still about 7% of children who wet their bed upto the age of 5.
Children ≥ 5 years of age who has been bed wetting every day since childhood.
Children who were normal at first but due to some unusually stressful life event started bed wetting.
Bed wetting twice a week for at least 3 consecutive months.

Some children may have other symptoms like -
# Increased frequency of urination ≥ 8 times/ day, or decreased frequency ≤ 3 times/ day
# Bed wetting in daytime
# Child cannot hold the urge for urination
# Child gives pressure to urinate

There are following advises you can follow at home before and during treatment -
Be patient and kind to your child.
Do not punish or humiliate the child for bed wetting.
Limit water intake after evening.
Avoid coffee, tea, or soda.
Make sure the child urinates before sleep.
Remember, waking the child repeatedly to take him or her to the toilet is not generally useful. Wake the child once 2-3 hours after sleep.
